Jean Louis Gagnaire is a French Politician born on the 29 th of April 1956 in Saint-Etienne (Loire, Department in France)
He is a deputy of the National Assembly (representing 2nd District of Loire), and he is Vice President of Rhône-Alpes Regional Council; he is member of French Socialist Party.
Professional training and political career
He is also a co-funder of MJC (Young House of Culture for all) in St Bonnet Le Château
University training
He attended a business and management school–senior executive, then followed a training in Sciences of Education and graduated from “l’Institut d'Études Politiques de Lyon” popularly called Sciences Po, Institute of Public and Politic’s Administration (IEP)
Before he prepared the entrance exam to the elite ENA of Grenoble (National School of Administration)
Political commitment
He has been Member of the French Socialists Party since 1982, he considered himself as a former Jospinist from the beginning, before supporting Segolene Royal.
He is the federal secretary in charge of elections for the Socialist Party of Loire from 1991 to 2003, and became a member of the Socialist’s National Conflicts Commission between 2003 and 2005.
Electoral mandates
He has been a member of General Councillor of Loire and Rhône Alpes since 1998, he has been re elected in 2004 with 56.26 % of votes, carrying out the departmental list for the poll of Socialist Party. He became Vice-President of the Regional Council in charge of Economic growth with social aspect and solidarity. He resigned from his local mandate on July 2007 to conform with the law.
He agrees with the proposal of Maurice Vincent (actual Mayor of St Etienne) to share a common list, where he appeared on 3rd part. After the electoral success of Mars 2008, he decided not to join the Municipal team in order to prioritize regional commitment. He resigned from Municipal Council in the 1st of April 2008.
